SWFL Home Inspector is based out of Cape Coral Florida but serves the entire Southwest Florida area. Wind Mitigation Inspections

Our Company has been specializing primarily in Wind Mitigation Inspections since 2017 and our inspector performs up to and over 1,200 wind mitigation inspection per year. We are licensed by the state of Florida and have received 6 certifications from five different state of Florida approved schools. We have the education and the experience to ensure your report accurately reflects any and all of the insurance discount credits you qualify for.

What separates SWFL Home Inspector as wind mitigation inspection specialists from most other “General Home Inspectors” is that our inspections are not an “add-on” that are done sporadically from time to time. It’s literally what we do all day long, and with the exception of 4-point inspections, it’s the only thing that SWFL Home Inspector does.

Four Point Inspections

While we specialize in wind mitigation inspections, we do also offer four-point inspections. A 4-Point Inspection is typically required on homes that are over 20 years old if you are changing insurance companies or shopping around for a new company. This is the only other type of inspection service, besides wind mitigation inspection, that our company provides.

Third Nail Check

Was your home built prior to 2002? If so, you might qualify for a substantial discount on your homeowners insurance if you have three or more nails in your roof-to-wall connection (aka hurricane straps/clips). A Third Nail Check is included with your Wind Mitigation Inspection Report. (*A third nail check isn’t technically an inspection in itself, rather a by-product of having a wind mitigation inspection).

Personalized Service

We’re a small business with just one solo inspector, Aaron, so when you need a follow-up inspection years later, you’re dealing with the same inspector you had the last time, who is familiar with your property. This is unlike big companies often inevitably plagued with new/inexperienced inspectors and high employee turn-over.

Next Day Reports

We provide your inspection report the following business day after your inspection, often reports are completed the same day. It will be sent via email in pdf format to you, which you can then easily send to your insurance agent.

Florida changed the wind mitigation form in 2026 — do I need a new inspection? As of April 1, 2026, all new wind mitigation inspections in Florida must use the updated form (OIR-B1-1802, Rev. 04/26). That is up to your insurance carrier. If you have an inspection report performed before that date on the old form, many insurance companies are no longer accepting it, while others are offering a 1 year grace period. But any inspection done now will be on the new form, which reflects updated building science and documentation standards.

How much does a wind mitigation inspection cost in Cape Coral? Most reputable, experienced inspectors in the Cape Coral area charge around $125, typically within the $100–$150 range. The fastest way to get your exact price is a free online estimate — about 10 minutes, no obligation.

How much can I save with a wind mitigation inspection? It varies by home, but the credits apply to the windstorm portion of your premium — often a large share of the total in Cape Coral. Homes with a newer roof, hurricane straps, and impact protection tend to save the most, and the report is good for up to five years.

Do you also do 4-point inspections? Yes — wind mitigation and 4-point are the only two inspections we do. If your Cape Coral home needs both, we can handle them in a single visit.
